We have reached and surpassed 15,000 references available in our warehouse

Last July, Elektro3 EDM managed to reach 15,000 active SKUs in its warehouse.

"It has not been an easy way," says Xavier Crusells, the company's purchasing director. "We started in 1993 in a small warehouse of 200 m2, with an initial catalogue of 500 references. In 2011 we did not reach 3,400 references and most of them were related to electrical equipment and lighting. Little by little we grew in articles and ranges that we did not have in our portfolio, both in our own EDM brand and in leading brands in the sector ... "

In this way, in 2016 Elektro3 EDM reached 6,000 references; in 2018, at 9,000; in 2020, at 13,000 and, finally, in July 2021 at 15,000 active items.

"The most difficult thing about buying is knowing how to manage stocks, accepting when you make a mistake and have to sell off," says Xavier. "Many companies have stocks with no current value, outdated items that only serve to whitewash the balance sheets at the end of the year. Elektro3 EDM, even coming from the year of the pandemic, where many companies in the sector “getting their fingers burnt” with Covid items, We can say that currently only 2.85% of our stock is outlet material It is very important to sell off the products: first with practically no gain, then at cost, you are still below cost and so on until the cost is divided by 5. And if it is still not sold, it is given to customers or given as material for charities ... This is the only way to manage stocks in our sector. We do not want to have items with very low turnover in our portfolio, because the rotation in the warehouse is essential ", assures the purchasing director of Elektro3 EDM.

And he reflects: "The good thing about this sector is that, no matter how many new items you included in the collection, you´ll never end; there are always a shortage of products, there are always families that are not complete, ranges of outdated items, products that change due to new regulations ... In conclusion: it is an infinite path ".

The objective of Elektro3 EDM is to continue growing in references to "offer an increasingly global service to all our customers. We still have many families of items where we need to improve and we promise to do so soon. By the end of the year we plan to bypass the 16,000 references ", concludes Xavier Crusells.
